Roughly half-way between Gladstone and Bundaberg is the Baffle Creek Estuary System. Rated as near pristine, it is one of the largest estuarys in Queensland and is fed by numerous saltwater creeks.
Baffle Creek Nomad Caravan Park, situated on 20 acres of river frontage, 3.5kms from the ocean, caters exclusively to grey nomads, and offers an exceptionally safe and quiet stay in a beautiful parkland setting. The area offers, arguably, the best coastal river fishing in Southern Qld.
2024 saw all netting abolished in the main basin, and another green zone established south of the Baffle entrance. Already there appears to be a positive effect with notable increases in some species catch numbers. is sparsely populated and there is little pressure on fish stocks. It is the best coastal fishing in Southern Qld. Baffle Creek was
identified by Qld Fisheries research as having the highest concentration of Mangrove Jack on Qld's east coast.
Barramundi, Grunter, Threadfin Salmon, Flathead, Bream, Trevallly, Queenfish, Mackarel, Whiting, Prawns, Mudcrabs and others lure our visiting anglers.
If you're not into fishing, the area has some great bird and animal watching, not to mention kayaking, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, swimming or if you prefer lazing around on the beach or doing nothing.
Our park has extra large shady powered sites. Camp fires are permitted in approved firepits and well behaved pets are welcomed.
Located on the northern bank of Baffle Creek we are only 3 minutes drive from Rules Beach and 10kms from the General Store with fuel and the Zincalumbar bar and bottle shop.
If you bring a boat or a kayak you will love the opportunity to explore our near pristine rated waterways with yabby banks 30m from our boat ramp, to the picturesque sandy beaches near the entrance, then far upstream to the beautiful rainforest covered banks.
We are now referring all overnighters, weekenders and party type groups to other new local campgrounds; in an effort to further improve the peaceful aura of our quiet park.
We welcome the nomads and the dedicated fishermen with enough time to explore our special part of Australia.
